Built for Strathroy Winters
Strathroy gets the full Ontario freeze-thaw cycle, and that’s what destroys concrete that was poured on a thin or poorly compacted base. Water gets underneath, freezes, expands, and lifts the slab, then it drops again in the spring, a little more broken each year.
Our answer is unglamorous: excavate to proper depth, compact a full gravel base, reinforce correctly, and slope every surface so water runs away from the house instead of pooling against it. It’s the part of the job nobody photographs, and it’s the reason the slab is still flat in fifteen years.
